Neon Genesis Evangelion, the original 1995 series, is groundbreaking. Well worth watching the full 26 episodes on Netflix.

"Evangelion: Death (True)²" on the other hand is a bad edit of the series. Not only does it fail as a recap, it doesn't even work as a standalone story.

Pro tip for those who never watched Evangelion and are going for it on Netflix: this is the order:

1. Evangelion (26 EP)
2. Evangelion Death(true)²
3. The End of Evangelion.

1 and 3 are necessary for the plot and 2 is a 1 hour long clip show that is unnecessary if you binged 1.

As you just watched the anime you do not need to watch evangelion death true 2 (it was made as a recap of the series which made sense because people finished the series in 96 but the movies came out at the end of 97)
